Hi!

My name is Alex, I'm a Philosophy graduate back in Northern Ireland after spending four years in London for university.

This blog is mainly document my attempts to improve my illustration skills with some   ramblings about my day in between.

I've always loved drawing and painting, but realised I hadn't done anything artistic for years whilst I was a 2nd year philosophy student. Slowly but surely I started drawing again, mainly animals - hence the name Animal Cafe. I eventually started my etsy shop which initially only sold greetings cards but now i'm looking to  start selling illustrations too.

I like to bake, watch terrible TV, read a mixture of terrible and amazing books,  listen to music (my favourite band in the whole entire world is Sigur Ros), and eat lots of Oreos.
